World Tourism Day comes to GULU
Gulu district, the unpretentious regional district is on top gear across the countries of the world for the celebration of this year’s World Tourism Day (WTD), which is to be on Friday 27th Sept at War Memorial Stadium commonly known as Pece Stadium as the host stadium in Gulu district under the theme “Tourism, Job and a Better Future For All”.
This year’s national celebration of the World Tourism Day is brought by Uganda Tourism Board in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism Wildlife and Antiquities and Gulu District Local Government.
On Wednesday Government also hold training in Gulu for the regional tourism officers and regional conference.
The guest of honour who will be celebrating the national World Tourism Day in Gulu district is our dear vice president of the Republic of Uganda H.E Edward Ssekandi.
This celebration began since 1980, the United Nations World Tourism Organization has celebrated World Tourism Day as international observances on September 27. This date was chosen as on that day in 1970, the Statutes of the UNWTO were adopted. The adoption of these Statutes is considered a milestone in global tourism.
The purpose of this day is to raise awareness on the role of tourism within the international community and to demonstrate how it affects social, cultural, political and economic values worldwide. It will free entrance at the gate come celebrate and acquire more knowledge tomorrow.
